Stabilization of microtubules attenuates disassembly of apical junctions and inhibits contractility of F-actin rings. SK-CO-15 cells were incubated for 1 h in calcium-free media in the presence of vehicle or the microtubule-stabilizing drugs docetaxel (10 μM) or pacitaxel (10 μM). Note that microtubule stabilization attenuates disassembly of the AJC and translocation of E-cadherin and occludin into the subapical cytosolic compartment and also blocks contraction of F-actin rings.
