Nuclear translocation of syndecan-1 affects the rate of apoptotic cells in fibrosarcoma cells. Histogram representing flow cytometry data of cells stained with Annexin-FITC and propidium iodide. The percentages of live, necrotic and apoptotic cells were measured at (a) 48 h and (b) 72 h after cell seeding. The fraction of apoptotic cells was significantly lower in cells transfected with full-length syndecan-1 (FLs1), at both time points, compared to cells transfected with syndecan-1 lacking the nuclear localization signal (NLSdel).
