The effect of PKC on OAT1 transport function. OAT1-expressing COS-7 cells were treated for 1 h, with 10 μM PMA in the absence or presence of 2 μM staurosporine (St), or 2 μM St alone. 4-min uptake of [3H]-para-aminohippuric acid (PAH, 20 μM) was then measured at room temperature. Each data point represents OAT1-mediated transport only, after subtracting uptake values from cells transfected with empty vector.
