Cheiradone inhibited cell proliferation. Cells were added to a 6-well plate (seeded cells; BAECs 2 × 10⁴ and HDMECs 3 × 10⁴) and the effect of cheiradone (0–7.7 μM) on VEGF₁₆₅ (10 ng/ml in each case) induced proliferation was determined as described above. DMSO alone was added to the control and columns 3 and 4 represent cheiradone (7.7 μM) or VEGF alone. Values which differ significantly (p < 0.05) from VEGF alone are indicated by *.
